Abstract painting by Angela Smith

Holding Form is an exhibition that will feature my pendulous paintings, Caroline Pick’s spiralling sculptures and June Nelson’s improbable ladders.

The show is on for two days, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September, from 11am to 6pm, during the second weekend of the Artwave festival. All are welcome at 136 South Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2BS, Venue 132.

We’ll be showing paintings and sculptures that hold a tension between structure and instability, in this stunning riverside studio.

One of my favourite galleries in Brighton is Fabrica, which this year is celebrating 30 years at the heart of Brighton. I’m excited to have been selected to show in Resonance, a dynamic group exhibition featuring artists from across the UK.

I’m showing a new painting, Fringe. The show runs from 4th until 19th April 2026 at Fabrica, 40 Duke Street, Brighton BN1 1AG. All welcome, free entry.

Excited to be exhibiting in The First Round Proper at BLOC projects, Sheffield. The show is in two parts, I’ll be in The First Half which runs from 6th-14th April, The Second Half will be from 17th-25th April 2026.

The show is concerned with the question of painting. What is this thing called painting in 2026?

Installation by Angela Smith

I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with plaster and it’s great to show a selection of these pieces at One to ten gallery for the month of February.

The Murano Effect Collection

“Defined by medieval artisanal  techniques, the Murano Effect articulates a visual language that draws on ancient ways of making. Responding to a renewed interest in traditional craftsmanship, and material intelligence, we have curated a selection of works from Rise Art that distil the spirit of this movement.”

Thanks to the curators of Rise Art for including my work in their collection The Murano Effect.
